How do I create an account?

Download diAry from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, then open the app and follow the onboarding prompts. You can sign up using:

  • Email address and password
  • Google account (Sign in with Google)
  • Apple ID (Sign in with Apple)

Once registered, you'll have immediate access to the free tier. Upgrade to diAry Elite anytime for premium features.

What's the difference between diAry (free) and diAry Elite?

diAry (Free Tier):

  • Unlimited text entries
  • Local device storage only (no cloud sync)
  • Basic entry organization

diAry Elite ($9.99/month or $79.99/year):

  • AI Transcription — intelligent transcription and contextual insights
  • ICE Cam™ Security — encrypted biometric vault protection

Is there a free trial?

We may offer promotional free trials from time to time. Check the app's pricing page or our website for current offers. If a free trial is available, you'll see it displayed during the upgrade flow.

Important: You must cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged. See our Refund Policy for details.

Can I use diAry on multiple devices?

Free Tier: Entries are stored locally on each device and do not sync.

diAry Elite: Your entries automatically sync across all devices logged into the same account via secure cloud storage.

What is AI Transcription and how does it work?

AI Transcription is diAry Elite's intelligent companion feature that:

  • Analyzes your journal entries for themes, patterns, and insights
  • Provides contextual reflections and prompts for deeper thinking
  • Helps you track emotional patterns over time
  • Suggests journaling prompts based on your writing style

What is ICE Cam™ security?

ICE Cam™ (Intruder Capture & Encryption Camera) is an advanced security feature exclusive to diAry Elite that:

  • Locks your journal behind biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint)
  • Captures a timestamped photo if someone attempts unauthorized access
  • Encrypts all entries with AES-256 encryption
  • Stores intrusion attempts in a secure log for your review

ICE Cam™ ensures your private thoughts remain completely private.

How does voice journaling work?

Voice journaling allows you to record audio entries directly in the app. Features include:

  • One-tap recording with high-quality audio
  • Automatic transcription to text (powered by AI Transcription)
  • Playback controls to review your recordings
  • Searchable audio transcripts

Perfect for capturing thoughts when typing isn't convenient.

Can diAry recognize my handwriting?

Yes! OCR Handwriting Recognition (diAry Elite feature) lets you:

  • Take a photo of handwritten notes
  • Convert them to editable, searchable text
  • Preserve the original image alongside the transcribed text

Great for digitizing physical journals or quick handwritten notes.

Can I search my past entries?

Free Tier: Basic keyword search within your entries.

diAry Elite: Advanced semantic search powered by AI — search by concept, emotion, or theme, not just exact keywords.

Can I export my journal entries?

Yes. Both free and Elite users can export their entries as:

  • PDF — beautifully formatted document
  • Plain Text (.txt) — simple text file
  • JSON — structured data for archiving or migration

Go to Settings → Export Data to download your entries.

Subscriptions & Billing

How much does diAry Elite cost?

diAry Elite is available as:

  • Monthly: $9.99/month
  • Annual: $79.99/year (save $39.89 — equivalent to $6.67/month)

Pricing may vary by region and platform. Check the in-app pricing page for your local currency.

How do I upgrade to diAry Elite?

In the app, go to Settings → Subscription → Upgrade to Elite and select your preferred plan (monthly or annual). Payment is processed through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Apple App Store:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone/iPad
  2. Tap [Your Name] → Subscriptions
  3. Select diAry Elite
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

Google Play Store:

  1. Open Google Play Store app
  2. Tap Menu → Subscriptions
  3. Select diAry Elite
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription

In-App:

Go to Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription → Cancel.

Note: Canceling stops future billing but does not refund the current period. You retain Elite access until the end of your billing cycle. See our Refund Policy for details.

Can I get a refund?

Our refund policy is strict: All subscription fees are non-refundable except in the case of total service failure (72+ hours of complete downtime).

Forgot to cancel? Unfortunately, forgetfulness is not grounds for a refund. We recommend setting a calendar reminder before your trial or billing period ends.

What happens if I downgrade to the free tier?

When you cancel diAry Elite:

  • You retain Elite features until the end of your current billing period
  • After the period ends, your account reverts to the free tier
  • Your entries are preserved — you won't lose any data
  • Cloud sync stops — new entries won't sync across devices
  • Elite-only features (AI Transcription, ICE Cam™, voice journaling, OCR) become unavailable

You can re-upgrade at any time to regain Elite access.

Do you offer student, military, or nonprofit discounts?

We do not currently offer institutional discounts, but we occasionally run promotional pricing. Follow us on social media or subscribe to our email list for announcements.

Privacy & Security

Is my journal private?

Absolutely. Privacy is diAry's core value. Here's how we protect you:

  • End-to-end encryption: All entries are encrypted with AES-256
  • Zero-knowledge architecture: We cannot read your entries — only you have the decryption keys
  • No third-party sharing: Your data is never sold, shared, or used for advertising
  • Biometric locks: ICE Cam™ (Elite) adds an extra layer of device-level security

Can GMX Quantum (the company) read my journal?

No. diAry uses zero-knowledge encryption, meaning:

  • Your entries are encrypted on your device before being uploaded
  • Only you hold the decryption keys
  • GMX Quantum employees, admins, and engineers cannot access your entries

Even if legally compelled, we cannot provide readable journal content because we don't have access to it.

Does AI Transcription send my entries to OpenAI or ChatGPT?

No. AI Transcription processing happens in a secure, isolated environment controlled by GMX Quantum. Your entries:

  • Are never sent to OpenAI, ChatGPT, or any third-party AI provider
  • Are never used to train external AI models
  • Remain encrypted and private throughout the AI analysis process

What happens to my data if GMX Quantum shuts down?

You can export your data at any time (Settings → Export Data) as PDF, text, or JSON. We recommend backing up your entries regularly.

In the unlikely event of service shutdown, we will provide at least 90 days' notice and ensure users can export their data before services terminate.

Is diAry GDPR and CCPA compliant?

Yes. diAry complies with:

Where is my data stored?

diAry uses AWS (Amazon Web Services) infrastructure in secure, SOC 2 compliant data centers. All data is:

  • Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3)
  • Encrypted at rest (AES-256)
  • Stored in geographically redundant locations for reliability

Technical Support

The app won't sync my entries. What should I do?

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check your internet connection — sync requires active WiFi or cellular data
  2. Force quit and reopen the app
  3. Verify you're logged into the same account on all devices
  4. Update to the latest app version (check App Store/Play Store)
  5. Check your subscription status — cloud sync is an Elite-only feature

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" and enter your email. You'll receive a password reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Note: For security reasons, we cannot manually reset passwords. You must use the automated reset process.

The app crashes on launch. What should I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Restart your device
  2. Update the app to the latest version
  3. Clear app cache (Settings → Apps → diAry → Clear Cache — Android only)
  4. Reinstall the app (your cloud-synced data won't be lost if you're an Elite subscriber)

If crashes continue, email [email protected] with your device details.

AI Transcription isn't working. Why?

AI Transcription requires:

  • An active diAry Elite subscription
  • A stable internet connection
  • Entries with at least 50 words for meaningful analysis

If you meet these requirements and it's still not working, try:

  1. Force-closing and reopening the app
  2. Checking for app updates
  3. Contacting support at [email protected]
Which devices and operating systems does diAry support?

iOS: iPhone and iPad running iOS 14.0 or later

Android: Devices running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later

For the best experience, we recommend keeping your OS updated to the latest version.

Is there a desktop or web version?

Currently, diAry is available only as a mobile app (iOS and Android). We're exploring desktop and web versions for future releases — stay tuned!

Data & Account Management

How do I delete my account?

To permanently delete your account and all associated data:

  1. Open diAry and go to Settings → Account
  2. Scroll to Delete Account
  3. Read the warning (this action is irreversible)
  4. Confirm deletion

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. All entries, voice recordings, and data will be permanently erased within 30 days. Export your data first if you want to keep a copy.

How do I change my email address?

Go to Settings → Account → Email Address and follow the prompts to update your email. You'll need to verify the new email address before the change takes effect.

Can I transfer my journal to another account?

Journal entries cannot be directly transferred between accounts. However, you can:

  1. Export your entries from the original account (Settings → Export Data)
  2. Manually re-import or copy-paste entries into the new account

What happens to my data if I stop paying for Elite?

Your journal entries are never deleted when you downgrade. However:

  • Cloud sync stops (new entries won't sync across devices)
  • AI Transcription, ICE Cam™, voice journaling, and OCR become unavailable
  • Existing voice recordings and OCR-transcribed notes remain accessible

You can re-upgrade at any time to restore Elite features.
